| Nowadays, when people are enjoying the comfort and convenience brought by automation,the American writer Nicholas Carr discusses negative effects of automation in a social science book entitled The Glass Cage: Automation and Us. Taking two chapters from the book as a translation material and using the adaption theory as the theoretical instruction, the present author analyzes some methods and skills in the process of translation in terms of the differences between the Chinese and Western thinking mode and the contrast between English and Chinese languages,and finally summarizes problems and strategies in the translation of social science texts on adaption theory as well as the harvest and deficiency in this practice. |
