Social-science texts refers to articles and books which study certain fields of social science.Such texts, therefore, play an important role in introducing important concepts and facilitating application and developments of various disciplines.Translating social-science texts requires translators not only to correctly express the meaning but also be concise and smooth in language using. Therefore, translators should try their utmost to eliminate problems like ambiguity and redundancy. And translators should properly translate pronouns, which appear quite frequently in social-science texts, and make it better blended into target language so as to present a concise and smooth translation.Based on English-Chinese translation of Marx's Crises Theory(chapter 1-3),this report describes the whole translation process from preparation to proofreading, and mainly discusses how to translate pronouns. The author first studies the use of pronouns in texts of English social science to prove that this project is meaningful. Then, after reading previous scholars' studies, this report uses examples chosen from the translation project and concludes translation methods through the author's experience and proofreading analysis. This report sees pronoun translation from a more general perspective,on the level of sentences and paragraphs, and proposes three methods, hoping to be useful for other social-science texts and helpful for more translators.
