A Report On The E-C Translation Of Baker Product Manual

With the development of economic globalization, more and more multinational corporations turn their investment target from the domestic market to the foreign market. In order to expand the international market, they take advantage of product manuals as an important means for promoting and selling goods.This report is based on the English-Chinese translation of Baker furniture manual. In view of the length(more than 50, 000 Chinese characters) and the time limit(45 days), a small team of Baker marketing department was set up to complete the task. The author in the report first reviews the background of the translation project, analyzes the features of the text and its target readers, and clarify the expectations of the client. By analyzing the translation process as well as representative cases, the report explores how to ensure quality through pre-translational preparations, and how under the guidance of fidelity, expressiveness, and elegance to achieve precision, readability and beauty of the translated version by adopting flexible translation skills so as to meet the demands of describing, illustrating and advertising the furniture. It is hoped that this report offers translators some referential value in terms of the translation of documents of similar types.
