Nowadays,the home furnishing industry in China enjoys a broad market prospect.The sustained development of the economy and the increasing domestic demand are positive for the real estate industry in the long run,driving vigorous development of the home furnishing industry,which is closely related to the real estate industry.As the per capita income of China's urban population rises and the consumption of Chinese citizens continues to increase,the market for luxury goods in China now composes the most significant proportion of all luxury goods sales worldwide.And one of the sub-branches of the home furnishing industry,the luxury furniture industry,is steadily growing in China.As more and more foreign luxury furniture companies enter the Chinese market and increase their investment in promotional campaign,it is increasingly significant for those companies that the translation of luxury furniture product fact sheets be properly done and show potential customers the advantages of their products.Based on an English-Chinese translation project for the Danish luxury furniture brand H that the author was involved in,the thesis summarizes three factors that negatively impacted the effects of promotion of the translated texts.Those factors include the plain words used in the English texts,mismatch between translated texts and product pictures and the translator's negligence on the market environment of the target language.After a comparative analysis of different translation versions in the project,the author proposes some strategies for improving the effects of promotion: enhancing the language of the translated texts while staying loyal to the original texts,searching for clues in product pictures,and conduct necessary revisions to the messages to make the translation better accepted in the target-language market.
