The Study Of The Word Marked �Book� In Modern Chinese Dictionary (Sixth Edition)

The paper chooses the word marked �book� in Modern Chinese Dictionary as the research object.Firstly,the research is about vocabulary describing and investigates the fundamental characteristics of the word marked �book� by the quantitative analysis.Then with the contrast between the fifth edition and the sixth edition,the author sorts out the revision of the sixth edition,expecting to explore and analyse the characteristics of scope change of the word marked �book�.The first chapter introduces the research object,and the history and current situation of similar researches,as well as indicating the the research methods.The second chapter introduces the overview of the word marked �book�. The word marked �book� are most verbs, nouns, adjectives, and auxiliary words like adverbs, pronouns, prepositions are less. Among auxiliary words, monosyllable words are more than multi-syllabic words. In the aspects of grapheme,there are more rare words,and the situation of variant Chinese character is complicated. In the aspects of lexical structure, there are more disyllabic binomes and reduplicated words,and some of them are hard to analyze by word-formation rules of Modern Chinese. Compared with Lexicon of Common Words in Contemporary Chinese, even though the low frequency of the words marked �book� in general, there are a few parts placing it inside the top 10000 words.More of them are not commonly used, but the four-character structure is used relatively frequently.The third chapter is about the distributing of semantic-regimentation,the paper puts the word marked �book� into nine categories,and among them the word about biological activity is maximum,followed by: property and status,specific object, public activity,abstraction,biology,movement and change, subsidiary word,space-time.The fourth chapter is related to the revision and research on characteristics of scope changes of the the word marked �book�.The revision includes the supplement and expurgation of headwords, the separation and combination of the headwords, the revision of style label, and the revision of the sense. Then the paper reveals the characteristics of changes in quantity of the the word marked �book� from four perspectives: syllable, grapheme, use frequency, and distributing of semantic-regimentation. With the analysis of the word marked �book�,we hope that this paper can be helpful to the further research of the word marked �book�.
