With the development of Chinese Language Learning Fever!, the number of Chinese learners in New Zealand has increased dramatically. From the author's teaching practice and the needs of Chinese teaching in New Zealand, combining the characteristics of New Zealand English, the author put forward a series of practical teaching methods in Mandarin pronunciation teaching. These teaching methods are in the following aspects: the sound, the rhyme and the tones. These practical teaching methods are carried out by analyzing phonetic theories and students# pronunciation errors. It aims to give advice to Chinese teachers who will go to New Zealand to teach Chinese in the future.In initial teaching aspect, Mandarin consonants can be divided into: 11 Easy consonants and 10 difficult consonants. For easy initials, the author directly put forward the following two teaching methods: teaching similar initials in pairs and setting examples to students. For difficult initials, the author first analyzes the students# initials errors, and then uses the Chinese phonetic theory to find out the reasons why these errors occurred. Finally the author proposed teaching strategies towards these errors. For example: using fingers to sense the vocal cords, blowing papers and teaching a difficult initial by teaching a easy one.In final teaching aspect, Mandarin vowel can be divided into two categories: easy ones and difficult ones. For easy finals, teachers should made full use of analogizing. For difficult vowels, the author first divides them into simple vowels and complex vowels. And then carries out several teaching methods by applying theoretical knowledge to analyze the students# errors.In tune teaching aspect, the author first lists and analyzes the reasons why tone errors occurred. Then the author proposed teaching methods form 4 tones. Besides the author introduces the importance of teaching Changed Tones! in Mandarin and put forward several ways to teach these rules in details. So as to enrich and improve the teaching of Mandarin tones.
