However, in the past, drama serves as a recreational activity for nobles both in the East and the West. With the development of society,drama moves its place from an untouchable luxury to a common activity which is easily accessible to the general public in their spare time. The broad variety of drama provides people with a method of entertainments both visually and acoustically.Posters for drama play one of significant roles to advertise and boost the revenue,therefore, poster design is of great importance. An exquisite poster can be the major contributor to the success of a drama and also a good collection of art.This article is mainly about the poster and history of drama. First, we analyze the development and impact of drama poster. The retrospection and study of history are not for the purpose of returning back to old tradition, but for the presence and future by learning from the past. These help us to understand and learn the previous experience from a historical point of view, combing the philosophy of tradition and modern architecture to create a poster of new kind. Second, by analyzing several examples of drama elements in poster design, we demonstrate the application of these elements in posters. Music acts as an inseparable part of drama performance of many kinds,especially for opera and musical theater, where musical elements are main contributors to these posters. In the meantime, the impact of choreography to drama should not be belittled, drama posters with dancing as a major style of performance attract people's attention by elements of dancing. However, drama figure is the key of drama itself,there is no drama without figures on the stage. Joys and sorrows, separations and reunions is what drama about. For China, this is a kind of art treasures--Chinese opera.Through the manifesting drama elements on posters and marrying Chinese opera with western opera, the uniqueness of drama has been further developed. In the end, after doing background studies, we elaborate the basic elements of common posters, whichusually include patterns, words and colors. These elements have been studied thoroughly, but generated a complete new perspective after interacting with drama.Concerning the unique characteristics of particular figures and coherence of stories of drama, by incorporating the special requirements of drama, poster design should focus on the stories themselves and the expressing of emotions of figures.In this article, a comprehensive discussion of a form of art, drama poster, has been made. The inspiration of designing drama posters ought to originate from the appeal of drama itself: Come from drama and return back to where drama begins.
