The general experiment of learning memory, most of researchers will be prefer to put the research target into how to improve the memory standard. People always pay more attention on how to use the useful knowledge to produce the effective memory. We also could improve the memory ability from the irrelevant information about forgetting. Bjork found that forgetting is able to improve memory ability, and it is very important to forget the irrelevant information and remember the useful information. In the past, whether invalid information will effect to receive the individual new information that is depend on directed forgetting to study. It is an important discovery in the past four decades to come up with the concept of directed forgetting.n this study, the writer uses the word method directed forgetting paradigm and ERP. In the condition of auditory interference, the writer is to study whether it produces directed forgetting with two different recognition tasks. This study is a 2(task group: old and new judgement, source judgment) x 2(instruction: memory, forgetting) mixed experimental design. The writer select 40 students from Hebei university students divide into two groups randomly. Firstly, subjects will be given a 1oooms visual word after shown instructions. At the same time, auditory word interference will be shown. A group of subjects are required to recognize the new and old judgment, and not to recognize the disturbance words; the other group are required to recognize the way of source judgment with the visual word and the auditory interference word.Behavioral data results show: the two groups for requiring to remember the correct recognition rate is significantly higher than the group for requiring to forget the correct recognition rate, it produce a directed forgetting. The difference between the two groups is not significant, but the memory from group of source judgment is higher than the group of old and new judgment. EEG data shows that at the learning stage, amplitude from a group who are required to remember instructions is more significant a group who are required to forget instruction after showing instructions 250 ~ 400 ms. That indicates subjects from two groups finely retell and process a words which is from the remember instructions, support the theory of selective rehearsal. During the testing stage, the group of old and new judgment and the group of source judgment are in 400 ~ 600 ms, the amplitude of TBR-R is more significant the amplitude of TBF-R, but there is no significant difference between the two EEG date groups. The experimental results show that in the condition of auditory interference, it exists a directed forgetting and different ways of recognition have no effect on the directed forgetting.
