As we all known that the main structure of Chinese ancient architecture is the wooden frame. The “Tile” is the architecture material which covered on the roof of a building,and the original meaning of the “End” is “blocker” or “stopper”. The tile-end,as a kind of ceramic building components, is actually the first part of the tile which used on the roof of the building of the most prominent position. It can not only protect the eaves and rafters from wind and rain erosion, but also prolong the life length of the building. And there also has an effect on the buildings which is to beauty and decorate on them. In the beginning, the ornaments of the tile-end are from plain to all kinds of various combinations of design pattern which become a bright scenery on the roof of the buildings. At the same time, some ornaments of the tile-ends are drawn mysteriously, beautifully and lovely by the ancient skilled craftsmen, and that is why attracted by many collectors to make great efforts to do some research, read and write about them. This thesis takes the drawing ornaments of tile-end in Qi and Yan as typical examples to analysis deeply and comprehensively. And chosen the most representative and universal unearthed tile-end from Qi ancient capital of Linzi and Yan’s capital of Yanxiadu as research object. By the building components, tile-end, the evolution of their ornaments are in order to reflect the changes about the decorative theme, content and artistic style of their ornament in the Period of Warring States on different stages, so as to understand more comprehensively the similarities and differences about the two kingdoms of Qi and Yan on their economy, politics, ideology, etc. Based on those, this thesis also want to try to imagine the scene at that time, in order to reflect the cultural characteristics about the regionalism, the times and the blending under that background of ancient times and so on.Well, this paper is divided into four chapters:The first chapter is the introduction, including describing the tile-end and its decorations completely.What’s more, this paper will also account the research purpose, significance, methods and innovation ideas. The second chapter and the third chapter firstly have an overview about the unearthed tile-end around the capital of Qi and Yan in the the Period of Warring States. Then it detailedly sets forth the classification,the periodization and the evolution of the tile-end between Qi and Yan. At last,it analyzes the based on the analysis of the cultural connotation and historical significance about the tile-end of Qi and Yan.The last chapter is to make a comprehensive comparative study about the tile-end of Qi and Yan through discussing the first two chapters about the tile-end of Qi and Yan. Given to make a comparative study about the capital architecture and the classification,the periodization,the evolution,the cultural connotation and artistic style about the ornaments of tile-end of Qi and Yan,it has some certain practical significance in order to manifest the similarities and differences of Qi and Yan on their cultures and societies. In the end of this thesis is the conclusion which will summarize and conclude the main idea of this study, and put forward the research deficiency and prospect in this paper. |
