Ha-ha Opera is an ancient art with a history of hundreds of years. In 2006, Ha-ha Opera included in the first batch of state- level intangible cultural heritage. Ha-ha Opera, directed by the author of this article, is a feature film introducing the art of Ha-ha Opera-one of intangible cultural heritage. Thus, it will arouse the fully recognition and concerns about this traditional art from society in order to keep human civilization sustaining and developing under the impact of market economy and to make these intangible cultural heritages be carried forward and promoted. With the development of society, intangible cultural heritage has become the most important topic arousing extensive attention in the world. Although China began to attach importance to “ICH”( referred as intangible cultural heritage) comparatively late, we develop it in a high speed of pace. I discovered that despite the fact that documentaries about intangible cultural heritage are numerous, the research on these documentaries otherwise are strikingly lacking, thus intangible cultural heritage themed documentaries stands without sufficient theoretical foundation. Given the stated above, this article will study the case of Ha-ha Opera and analyze documentaries regarding this art form. Furthermore, it will summarize the concept of these documentaries, production methods and limitations and propose the solution to future production in the hope of better inheriting intangible cultural heritage through films.
