Zhang Ding is one of the leaders in " Chinese Contemporary Mural Movement ", and his representative works include Nezha Conquers The Dragon King in Being Airport, Great Wall in Yanshan and Yangzi River Running to the east in Beijing Subway, The Sunset in Huashan and The Sunrise in Taishan in Beijing Hotel and The Carol of Kunlun Mountains in Beijing Kunlun Hotel. In these works, Chinese painting language is the major art language. Through the analysis of the language form, people can furtherly understand Zhang Ding's thinking and interpret the ethnic characteristics in his murals, both of which will give a reference significance for the use of the art language in contemporary murals.The thesis discusses the Chinese painting language in Zhang Ding's murals into four parts. In Part One, as the Introduction, it decides the background, significance and research status of the topic, then makes a brief introduction upon the main contents of the research; In Part Two, the thesis analyses the sources of thinking in Zhang Ding's murals through his achievement and artistic thinking; In Part Three, the thesis, as the summary and re-organization, systematically studies in details on the Chinese painting language in three aspects: composition, application method of ink and pen, and color; In Part Four, through the study on the Chinese painting language, the thesis gives the inspiration for contemporary mural creation from Chinese painting language.
