There is a long history for traditional Chinese painting. The lines as the soul and an important part occupies a pivotal position in Chinese painting art. "line modeling" is the main method for Chinese painting. It is a blend and sublimation of line and Appearance. Therefore, Chinese painting is a line art. Line is the beginning of everything and it is the most direct way and simple way that is used to express the nature of human society. It enriches the form and content of Chinese painting and concentrated the subjective emotions and aesthetic appeal of the artists.In a long-term artistic practice, it has enriched the lines of expression, rhythmic sense and showed the ingenious of artistic charm. In the diversified development, we deeply research and analysis the Chinese painting lines and develop the traditional Chinese painting line. It will have a far-reaching significance for the development of contemporary ink figure painting. Chinese Painting Line Art is the most important language and shape of the bone, which constitutes the art of Chinese painting. Through the study of traditional lines, we can deeply understand the line art and Chinese painting.The thesis is divided into five parts. The part I: Introduction section. Part II: from ideological roots and concepts of painting lines, we more systematically appreciate the Chinese lines art. Linear beauty of Chinese painting attributed to traditional Chinese philosophy, it exudes a unique value and meaning. Part III: Sort out The main lines of traditional ink figure development and deeply explain the specific line art used in the conventional ink figure painting. Part IV: Under the background of "The ink should follow times", we analysis of inheritance and development of Chinese painting lines art. In the tradition of the essence of the art, we must also continue to understand the line art and its exploration. We will fuse the Western painting line art with the Chinese and get a unique characteristics of the times new look. Part V: combining with my own painting practice, to discuss about the perception and understanding of "line" in figure painting application.
