?Fashuyaolu?written by ZhangYanyuan is the sylloge of works on calligraphy before Tang Dynasty.Consisting of ten volumes about thirty pieces of works,it covers from?Non Cursive?by Zhaoyi in the Eastern Han Danasty to?Shuduan?by Zhanghuaiguan in Tang Dynasty.It is one of the most important documents of the research on handwriting study.And"Cursive" has been refered to many times in it.The subject of this paper is the development of "Cursive" in?Fashuyaolu?.By studying the materials on the related works on calligraphy,this article mainly analyzes the different forms of Cursive produced by various writing tools in different times,which aims to provide some useful revelations to current creation of Cursive.The clue to this article is the character evolution,which has been divided into five stages:1.Zhangcao created by Shiyou,2.the features of Cuiyuan's and Dudu's Cursive guided by official script,3.Zhangzhi's contribution to Cursive's development,4.the characteristics of Weiguan's and Suojing's Cursive,5.Wangxizhi's and Wangxianzhi's handwriting features' contribution to Cyrsive's development.Finally,Analyzing by combined with handwriting works,some conclusions have been reached:first,the Cursive guided by official script is similar to Zhangcao and the Cursive guided by regular script is similar to Cursive and running script.second,The features has changed from vertical style to lateral style.Third,serial loopback has expanded from the character's inside to the character's outside.Fourth,the structure has changed from single character to combined character.Last,the orderly ways has changde from to single line to the whole sheet.All these changes are also influenced by the improvement of writing tools and the expansion of supporters of handwriting.And they all have some certain instructive effect on Cursive's creation.The writer has studied "Cursive" whose graduation creation comes from the "Cursive" changed from Wangxianzhi's style.Her writing script combined cursive with running script.Rhythm changes could be found in the whole sheet via dark color and the characters'size.
