This is a report of the translation from English into Chinese. It describes the working process of the author translating a book Public-private Partnerships in Urbanization in the People's Republic of China for the Recover Company. The author of this paper introduces the meth-ods and strategies the author has employed in the process of translation.Hans J. Vermeer, the German translation professor, purposed Skopos Theory in 1970s. Skopos Theory includes three important rules:skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule. Skopos Theory insists that the "skopos rule" is the most important principle in the all transla-tion activities. Skopos Theory believes that translation purpose and translation function de-cide the translation methods and strategies. Through the analysis of translation experience, the author thinks that Skopos Theory could guide and throw light on the translation of Eng-lish into Chinese, and it could illustrate the translation action of translators. This report first provides a brief introduction to the translation task, significance of the translation task, the requirements of the client and the translation preparation work. The au-thor analyzes the concrete problems on lexical and syntactical levels experienced in the translation process under the guidance of the Skopos Theory. The strategies adopted in the translation are also illustrated. For the lexical level, it mainly analyzes the methods and strategies of the terminologies and conversion of lexical categories. Translation of subordi-nate sentences contains three levels:nominal clause, attributive clause and adverbial clause. Through the analysis of the translation, the methods and strategies of translation about sub-ordinate sentences could guide the translation of English into Chinese, and it could also il-lustrate the translation action of translators. The last is the concluding part with the main findings of this study as well as limitation and reflections. The report has analyzed and summarized translation process, obstacles and solutions with an aim to provide reference to other translation of similar type and government documents or book. Meanwhile, it is also expected that it can offer certain tips to translation practice and research. In this project, the author chose Vermeer's Skopos Theory as his guidance. Through an-alyzing text type of source text, the author paid great attention to representation of terminol-ogies and conversion of lexical categories, treatment of difficult subordinate sentences. The author realizes that deep understanding and application of translation theory will make it more sensible. Translation action should be conducted in view of the commission and re-quirements of the clients. Then, information can be delivered to the bigger extent and convey the message to the reader briefly. In reviewing the translation process, the author comes to three conclusions:(1) Before the translation work, translators must completely understand the clients' requirements and the features of the original, and should master the translation kills and methods of the origi-nal. (2) For any content that the translators do not understand, they should endeavor to seek out the related information so as to understand the source language accurately and translate them into target language properly. (3) For any translation, there is room to improve. There-fore, translators should read more to enrich their horizon and translation competence. Meanwhile, with the development of science and technology, many translation works could be done by computers. Hence, translators should keep up with the time to master the skills of using computer software to assist translation.
