Abstract/Summary:
Contemporary literature was not only a period for literature development but also an era for the rise of female literature. During this period, a large number of female writers faced their life with a conscious attitude and wrote with great passion, warmth and thoughtfulness with the purpose of paying attention to females living in the traditional and realistic predicament. Tie Ning, the famous writer in this period, who created a new page of female writing with a bold style of writing and courage, made inquires and introspection toward women’s living condition through shaping all kinds of female characters distorted by male chauvinism. The current paper gave a detailed explanation of Rose Door and Big Bath Females from the perspective of female consciousness through theoretical description and text analysis. The author hoped to provide a reference for the exploration of the road to the emancipation for Chinese women through analyzing the incompleteness and relative thoroughness of consciousness. The paper can be divided into five parts. The first part gives a simple description about the significance, research methods and research status. The second part analyzes the consciousness of women’s liberation in the two long novels through a perspective of communication and exchange between western and Chinese cultures. The third part is mainly about the female consciousness through a unique analysis of the evolvement of "body writing" and the "unequal relation between male and female". The fourth part shows the awakening and the half-awakening of female characters in the two novels through a traditional perspective. The last chapter points out the common features of the two novels from creative theme and female image, and points out the incompleteness and relative thoroughness of women’s liberation consciousness of Tie Ning’s novel.
