As the machine to release human desire, film has both helped people stimulate their appetite for food and sex and managed them to reach these requirements. There are massive number of films about food and sex among which people may easily find some classical moments:director of In the Realm of the Senses would like to regard the egg soaked in the female body as the desire for food and sex while the director of Dandelion prefer to choose the fresh and delicious oyster held by the maid living near the seaside, in Chocolate, it turns to be the chocolate which never be finished by the heroine but favored by the hero, in Last Tango in Paris, it becomes the butter shown in that notorious sex scene......As the special way which combines desire for food and sex together, eroticism in food has been applied widely in the films while its relevant researches or works have been far from enough. How to eroticize the food? Which has been the focus of the eroticism in food in both eastern and western context? Under the perspective of feminism, what anti-feminism features have been presented in the eroticism in food? How to correct these phenomena? As the extreme phenomenon of food, how could cannibalism integrate with desire for sex?....Discussions to the above issues have existed in the analysis to the new kind of film, so-called "diet film" or "food film". However, as the small branch of these kinds of cultural significance, it has always been described briefly or just as the phenomenon shown in individual films by individual directors. This thesis aims at conducting a comparably overall and profound comment to the relationship between food and sex in films and proposing the idea named eroticism in food from the deep-level mechanism so that the viewers could carry out the observation to the normal films figure out how food could enter into the film as the signal and turn to be the reference of erotic feeling, which may make up for the shortage in the study on the relationship among film, food and sex.
