A Variation Study Of Sihong Dialect Based On The Social Factors

This paper will take the Sihong dialect as an example and the theory of social linguistics variation as a guide to inspect the language variation of Sihong dialect by questionnaires and audio interview.Through inspecting settlement,3 school and other12 survey sites in Sihong county,we get a large number of linguistic data and record and analyze it by using SPSS 20.0 to explore that what social factors influence the Sihong dialect variation and the characteristics and reasons.In chapter one,we introduces the geography and history of Sihong and emphasizes on the status of Sihong dialect and the research situation about dialect variation.Meanwhile,the content,significance and methods are explainedIn chapter two,this paper introduces the reasons for selecting Sihong County as the object of investigation and the survey program,survey methods and the methods of data processing are established.In the third chapter,we analyzed 27 linguistic variables.In the voice part,we analyze 10 variation situations including 3 initial variables and 7 vowels variable.And we analyze 8 noun variables,3 verbs,2 locative prepositions in the part of vocabulary.The grammar part mainly includes the vivid adjective form,the continuous form of verb,the passive sentence and the imperative sentence.By using SPSS 20.0,we analyze these variables to make the cross-tabs and chi square test tables to find the social factors that influence the variation of Sihong dialect.In the fourth chapter,this paper discusses the variation characteristics of sound,vocabulary and grammar and analyzes the reasons for the formation of variation.According to the results of cross-tabs and chi square test tables and questionnaires,we find that in the term of sound,age,class,education level and region have a strong effect on selecting standard form.In vocabulary,gender,age,class,education and region all are effect factors for vocabulary variation.In grammar,comparing with sounds and vocabulary,the influence on grammar is not obvious.In daily life,people still tend to use nonstandard variants.
