A Study Of Pian Ya

Pian Ya is an imitation work of ErYa in the late Ming dynasty,which included disyllabic words.The current academic research on the Pian Ya is mainly from the perspective of linguistics to analysis the lian mian words and the concept of it which concluded by Pian Ya,few articles do comprehensive research from the perspective of philology.This paper is divided into four parts to recearch the Pian Ya.The first part is overview of Pian Ya and discuss the academic background and the reason of Pian Ya's compilation,argues that Pian Ya was compiled in a time which academic history was transited from the old age to the new era.Zhu Mou Han was also influenced by the Neo-Confucianism in Song and Ming dynasties.His good family cultivation,personal cultivation,rich collection of books and his macro grasp and understanding of academic history promoted him compiled Pian Ya,which reflected his self-consciousness of scholarism.The second part is Pian Ya's editions,mainly paint the spread relations among each version.This part argues that PianYa has gone through three spread stages in turn,which are original edition,annotated edition,and supplementary edition.The spread of original edition has three systems,various manuscript edition and block printed edition based on the version of 17^th year of WanLi emperor,manuscript edition and photocopy edition based on Si Ku Quan Shu,reprinted edition and photocopy edition based on Jie Yue Shan Fang.Pian Ya have 11annotated works that divided into two stages,the latter may not better than former.When PianYa's printing in a period of time,some kind of version will be the common version,and it affected the largest number of block printed editions.The third part discuss three problem of Pian Ya,content included,compiling style,nature.This part suggests that content included are not all LianMian words,it also contains some three syllable words and phrases.The basic compiling Style of whole Pian Ya is from title to large category and to lower category,finally to the specific words,these categories divided by meaning,but this standard does not completely implemented.A,B style is the main body of term using in Pian Ya.We furtherer to judge Pian Ya's nature is a Chinese exegetics work which mainly include disyllabic words.The forth part is values and deficiencies of Pian Ya.This part suggests that the lexicography values reflected in:it can supplement the insufficiency and incompleteness of dictionaries,can be accorded to add dictionary entries,can provide proves to understand dictionary entries.Pian Ya's exegetics value are:expand the collecting scope of words in Er Ya and Guang Ya,what Pian Ya according is old version that can regarded as emendation stuff,the compiling style reflects the words and interpretation words in the relationship between the rhyme and meaning,and Pian Ya was an innovation of the history of study on Er Ya which impacted the later scholars.According to Pian Ya we can research on LianMian word family,if we contact the LianMian words than Pian Ya included can further explore the relationship between sound and meaning of the word family inside.Pian Ya's deficiencies are:the vocabulary included has some leakage phenomenon,the compiling style have some places not rigorous,and some mistakes on the words explanation.
