Research On The Classics Reading Movement During The Period Of The Republic Of China

Since modern history of China,the traditional Chinese society was in full impact of the western society.In terms of the influence of western learning,from learning the western political systemin "open mind to reach the world" and "The Westernization Movement" to accepting western culture Comprehensively,lots of aspects of Chinese society has experienced the transformation from tradition to modernity.In this process,Confucian Classics,which has always been the main part oftraditional Chinese values tended to collapse gradually.However,studying Confucian Classics activities were very common during this time.This article would like to summarize debates about studying Confucian Classics in modern China and look forward to giving some inspiration to today 's society.My paper is divided into 4 parts.In the Introduction,I would like to explain the significance of this research and review some existing academic research about this problem.Besides this,I will also show the emphasis and deficiencies of this paper.In the first chapter,changes of Confucian Classics' status in the end of Qing Dynasty will be narrated.I also want to analyze the background of studying Confucian Classics activities' produce by researching the arrangement of Classics courses in educational system's reform.In the second chapter,I will analyze the foundation of communities of studying Confucian Classics and the worship of Confuciusand criticism about studying Confucian Classics in New Cultural Movement.Next,Confucian Classics has been developing because of various policies by National Government?local lords and puppet regime.However,academia had different attitudes to studying Confucian Classic during this time,these contents will be represented In the third chapter.Finally,I want to discuss if studying Confucian Classics being the tools of the guarding rulers' benefits or having its' own culture value and we should deal with this problem dialectically.
