A Comparative Study On Taste Words' Metaphorical Meanings In Chinese And Vietnamese

Metaphor,as a topic,was argued in the old age and redefined in the new era.Hence,it is a topic of ancient and modern.We claim to its historicity because since the beginning of 300 BC,Aristotle school has studied metaphor.And it is new,because the birth of cognitive linguistics brings new ideas to metaphor,and metaphor is used only as a means of rhetoric to hu(?) cognition.Cognitive linguistics holds that metaphor is not only at the linguistic level but also in the hu(?) mind.Cognitive metaphor has brought a new perspective in various fields.The taste words are the words which express the sense of taste,which is closely related to people's life.It has strong ability of word formation,rich in meaning,Chinese and Vietnamese both have formed their own abundant vocabulary system.In view of this,we did a comparative study of the basic taste words in Chinese "? "(sour)," ? "(sweet)," ? "(bitter)," ? "(spicy),"?"(salty)and in Vietnamese "chua","(?)" "dang","cay","(?)"from the perspective of cognitive linguistics,to explore the characteristics of Chinese and Vietnamese,find taste words metaphor rules and the commonness and individuality,and finally analyze the causes of cultural and thinking heterogeneity.In addition to introduction,which gives a brief introduction of the research purpose and significance,research methods and corpus source,this paper consists of five chapters:The first chapter introduces the theoretical basis of the research,including the nature of conceptual metaphor theory and related concepts of metaphor,synesthesia metaphor,image schema and cognitive domain.The second chapter discusses the characteristics of taste,and defines the basic taste words in the two languages of Chinese and Vietnamese.The third chapter is comparative study of Chinese and Vietnamese basic taste words'synesthetie metaphors.The fourth chapter compares the basic taste words of Chinese and Vietnamese,and analyzes the similarities and differences of the metaphorical meanings of the taste words of the two languages.The fifth chapter discusses the cause of Chinese and Vietnamese basic taste words metaphors similarities and differences.
