"Taste words" originally refers to the concept of taste and the word related to the taste. However, with the development of language, human beings can express more concepts and meanings through associations based on their direct "taste"experience. Therefore, the "taste word" also includes the post-words derived from the taste and showing abstract meanings. In the course of the evolution of the Chinese taste words, the word meaning, influenced by the Han nationality's way of thinking and spiritual culture, was further developed and expanded. The paper, initially, deeply explores five basic taste words of "sour, sweet, bitter, spicy, salty" in modern Chinese from such aspects as the word formation of taste words, the semantic features of ABB-style taste words and the quantitative analysis of target areas of taste words. Then, the paper conducts a quantitative analysis of targets areas with the combination of the metaphor theory of cognitive linguistics, thus finding that the majority of taste words involve in the sensory field, that the "taste domain" can reflect the"psychological emotion domain",and that the proportion of "psychological emotion domain" among five taste words is undoubtedly the highest. The taste word of "bitter"not only possesses strong ability to form words, but also has a wide range of extended meanings with the highest metaphorical conversion rate. Finally, the paper discusses the generation mechanism of metaphor of Chinese taste words, and the dialectical thinking mode hidden in the Han nationality.
