The relationship between emotion and perception has always been the focus of research on the field of emotion in China and abroad.Throughout the existing study, the results of the study on the impact of emotion on the global and local processing is not entirely consistent. The “global precedence effect” theory holds that the perception system firstly deals with stimulus global nature, and then analyzes local nature, and dealing with more researches to demonstrate that the “global precedence effect” appears under positive emotional conditions, and if it's under negative emotional conditions, compared to the global processing, perhaps the local processing is more superior. Then Fredrickson's “broaden and build” theory explains global precedence effect under positive emotional conditions based on physiological response. However,in the follow-up study, scholars found emotional negative bias, namely, negative stimulus seems to have priority on perceptual processing compared with positive and neutral stimuli, and on negative emotional conditions, individual behavioral response more accurate and faster, which is positively opposed to the“global precedence effect” under positive emotional conditions. With the rise of embodied perception, scholars began to re-understand the important role of the body in perceptual processing, believing that body is the foundation of emotional understanding, experiencing, processing and other processes, began to explain the mechanism of action of emotion in individual perceptual processing through the perception theory. That undoubtedly brings inspiration to the “emotional impact on perception ”subject, and perhaps the impact of emotion on global and local perceptual processing can be explained by embodied emotional observations. This study takes the college students and graduate students as the subjects, using the global/local processing of hierarchical stimulus paradigm pioneered by Navon, emotional video starter method and face action control method,by means of behavioral experiment, explores flexible impact of emotion on the effect of global and local cognitive processing from the perspective of embodied emotion. This study consists of two experiments.Experiment 1 examines how positive emotions and negative emotions affect the individual's global and local perceptual processing,usingthree-factor mixed experiment design, that is,2(global start-up,local start-up)× 2(positive emotion, negative emotion)× 2(global perception condition, local perception condition). The start-up group and the emotional group are intergroup variable, and the perceptual condition is intragroup variable.Based on the progression of experiment 1,experiment 2 tested in the case of subject are unconscious of emotional state and its source to examine whether the same effect which occurs in experiment 1 can be produced, using three-factor mixed experiment design, that is,2(global start-up,local start-up)× 2(biting pen by teeth, biting pen by lips)× 2(global perception condition, local perception condition). The start-up group is intergroup variable, the pen-biting group and the perceptual condition are intragroup variable. The results reveals that:(1)when subjects' advantage processing are global processing, the positive emotion group's global processing level is significantly higher than that of the negative emotions;when subjects' advantage processing are local processing, the positive emotion group's local processing level is significantly higher than that of the negative emotions;(2)when subjects' advantage processing are global processing, compared with the group biting pen by lips(inhibition of laughter),the group biting pen by teeth has higher local processing level;(3)the impact of emotion on the global and local processing depend on the type of emotion and the current advantage of perceptual processing.
