SNARC effect is one of the hot topics in the research of digital processing,numerous studies have found the spatial characteristics of digital,and the numbers are represented on the mental number line according to the numerical size from left to right,It has also been found that the numerical size of the digital information can be automatically activated and caused the spatial shift of attention.In this paper,we used the Global-Local research paradigm,using digital and arrows as part of the overall stimulus,to study the global number SNARC effect and local number SNARC effect,and the spatial shift of attention caused by numbers.There were two experiments in this study.Experiment 1 used number comparison task to explore different materials(numbers or arrows)composition of compound stimulus,to discuss when numbers act as the global feature and the local feature's SNARC effect.The experiment 1 was divided into two tasks.In task 1,the global numbers were composed of numbers and arrows,it requires subjects to compare the global numbers with 5,to explore the different materials of global feature SNARC effect;In task 2,the global arrows were composed of numbers(1?2?8?9),it requires subjects to compare the local numbers with 5,to explore the local feature's SNARC effect.The material of experiment 2 were arrows which composed of numbers(1?2?5?8?9),it requires subjects to determine the direction of the arrows,to explore the direction of attention between large and small numbers.This study yielded the following findings.(1)The SNARC effect was found in the overall numbers,the global numbers made up of numbers,the global numbers made of arrows and the local numbers;(2)The SNARC effect of the global numbers made up of numbers is better than the global numbers made of arrows,the SNARC effect of the overall numbers is weaker than the previous.(3)The response time is faster when local and global numerical magnitudes are congruent than they are incongruent;(4)Numbers can cause the spatial shift of attention but 5 can't.It means that the small numbers can cause the spatial attention shift to the left direction,and the large numbers can cause the spatial attention shift to the right direction.Moreover,this kind of spatial attention can effect the completion of spatial tasks.
