With the rapid development of science and technology and the background of globalization,intercultural communication has become more and more frequent.Intercultural communicative competence has become the first premise of international communication for a talented person in the 21stThis research is divided into five parts,the first part is the introduction.The background,purpose and significance are clarified,and the scope of the research and the main researching methods are identified.The second part is the relationship between the theory of constructivism and college students' intercultural communicative competence.This part reviews the concepts of constructivism and intercultural communicative competence,putting forward the theory basis of this study,expounding the relationship between the theory of century.In general,intercultural communicative competence refers to the ability of communicating with the people from different countries successfully.The number of non-English majors in China accounts for most of the total number of Chinese college students.Especially in recent years,non-English majors in China have more and more opportunities and conditions to communicate with the people from different countries.Although a large number of college students have learned English for more than ten years,they still have difficulties in communicating with the people from different countries.Thus,to cultivate non-English majors' intercultural communicative competence is the primary task of college foreign language education in China.In eighteenth century,the theory of constructivism originated in western countries.By 1990 s,the theory of constructivism has gradually developed and perfected.Meanwhile it has been widely used in the field of education.Constructivism holds that the learner can,in a certain situation,be able to construct the knowledge with the assistance of others.As a theory of knowledge and learning,constructivism theory has important implications for the foreign language education.This research discusses how to apply the theory to cultivating the intercultural communicative competence of non-English majors.This research is guided by the theory of constructivism,focusing on cultivating non-English major undergraduates' intercultural communicative competence in foreign language teaching in Chinese colleges and universities,analyzing the components of college students' intercultural communicative competence,aiming to summarize the teaching strategies of cultivating college students' intercultural communicative competence through the research.constructivism and college students' intercultural communicative competence.The third part is the study in the field of intercultural communication at home and abroad and the domestic current situation of the college students' intercultural communicative competence.This part first elaborates the situation in the field of intercultural communication at home and abroad,and then analyzes the present state of domestic college students' intercultural communicative competence.The fourth part is the main part of this research.The concrete strategies for cultivating students' intercultural communicative competence are put forward guided by the theory of constructivism.The fifth part is the conclusion and the prospect.The conclusion,the limitations of this research and the direction of further research are put forward.
