Taoist Theory Of Need And Its Value In Modern Society

With the accelerated process of China's reform and opening up,people's living standards continue to improve,and become rich in material products.At the same time,the contradiction between people's needs and social production has not been alleviated,thus causing a series of more serious social problems.If this trend continues,the development of people and social will lose their possibilities.The paper bases on literature of Marxist and Taoist texts,absorbing the research results of scholars both at home and abroad,combining with the Chinese social development needs of people's alienation of this major practical problems.In addition,the theory analyzes and summarizes the theory of need of Taoist in the Chinese traditional culture and its contemporary value for human development and social development.The thesis can be divided into four chapters:The preface part summarizes the Marxist theory of need and the significance of research on Taoism theory of need;indicating the research status of the topic at home and abroad.On the basis of existing research,we can study Marxist theory of needs by comparing to Taoist philosophy as a new starting point.In the second chapter,the concept of relevant philosophy needs to be sorted out,which is the basic basis for the research of the theory of Taoist needs.The theory of Marxist considers that all of the outside things people need is human to sustain the continuation and development of the requirements,including four characteristic:the subjectivity as a manifestation of objectivity,the material basis of diversity,individuality as the social premise and associated with the historic infinite.The need of people can be divided into the diachronic and synchronic structures;the need of people can be divided into three levels:they are survival,enjoyment and development.From the angle of value,the need of people can be divided into reasonable need and unreasonable need,which plays an important role in the development of people.The third chapter demonstrations the specific content of Taoist need theory.The logical starting point of Taoism needs is its ontology,which bases on the "Tao" as the core;and it is also the basis of the theory of human nature.From Marxist need theory perspective,the need theory of Taoist can be summarized into four aspects:First,the survival needs concerning on health-nourishing and people-protecting;second,the enjoyment need concerning on desire-fitting and happiness;third,the development needs concerning on self-achieving and freedom(xiao yao).The fourth chapter is the main research part of this paper,which reveals the contemporary value of the theory of Taoism.By referring to the "unity of heaven(tian)and human beings","harmony between desire and need","nature based spiritual freedom(xiaoyao)" in the Taoist theory,it is possible to coordinate the relationship between man and nature,man and society,as well as man and himself in real life.
