The Schema Of Cultural Life Of Scholars In The Northern Dynasties

The Northern and Southern Dynasties is a special period in Chinese history. The society was unprecedentedly turbulent, people's thinking was extremely active, and the emancipation of the mind stimulated the development of costume culture, which helped the costume culture enter the self-conscious age. On the one hand, because of the frequent war, the northern floating old scholars became special at that time, and this group played a very important role on the dress culture communication of the Northern and Southern Dynasties. On the other hand, because of the ethnic minorities invading into the central plains, clothing culture was relatively diverse, pluralistic culture contributed to the period of history during which people's thinking was free and people had their own personalities. Through analyzing the costumes of scholars in the Books of the Northern Qi Dynasty, we could roughly know the lifestyle of the scholars in Northern Dynasties. They have romantic characteristics, and behave in the informal manners, this can be indicated from the headscarves they wear and the hairstyles the make; And the behavior of scholars showing their bodies in the Northern Dynasties is the inheritance of the clothing fashion of the Southern Dynasties, which then promotes the openness in the Tang Dynasty dress fashion. This paper analyzes the schema of cultural life of scholars in the Northern Dynasties bsed on the costumes in the Book of the Northern Qi Dynasty, and then reveals the inner reason of this phenomenon. This article embarks from the image study and research in the field of archaeology, history and some other related methods and results, then analyzes the schema of cultural life of scholars in the Northern Dynasties, and explores the political, economic and cultural reasons behind this fashion phenomenon. Finally, it comes to the conclusion of three kinds of cultural psychology shapes of the Northern Dynasties scholars, firstly, they have romantic characteristics and behave in the informal manners; secondly, they prefer natural and unrestrained appearances; thirdly, they have noble artistic conception.First of all, this paper verifies the creation times of the Book of the Northern Qi Dynasty, mainly based on the inscription and related historical documents of the Book of the Northern Qi Dynasty in Boston museum, and determine the picture is the imitated copy in Song Dynasty. Through further examination on the image content, we found that, even if the Book of the Northern Qi Dynasty is a copy in Song Dyansty, it still can be used to describe the cultural phenomenon of Northern Qi Dynasty. Second, this paper analyzes the clothes of the figures in the Book of the Northern Qi Dynasty, such as the specific forms of the trousers, dress, boots, shoes and hairstyles, and study their historical origin. Finally, the paper analyzes the schema of cultural life of scholars in the Northern Dynasties, and the causes of the formation of this phenomenon.
