Fan Yong Research

Fanyong was an important officer in the early and medium term of song dynasty, thro ugh SongZhenzong and Renzong dynasty. FanYong’s ancestor was from TaiYuan,and his family settled in luoyang when his grandfather FanConggui burried in Luoyang.Fan Yong engaged in politics by passing the imperial examination in 1000, and was recommended by Zhang Yong and KouZhun to be the commissioner of HeNan province in 1015. He quiet down the flood and handled the store of the military of HeBei in 1019. He was transferred to ShanXi province in 1021 and has served as transpoter of ShanXi and metropolis,and then as the officer of ShanXi.During his tenure,he completed the Ruzhong System,enhanced the store of military and disposed of the boundary matters.He entered Sansi in 1025 and then completed HeDi and business system.Then he took part in revolution of the Tea Law and dealed with other commercial matters.In 1028,he was advanced to the central authority minister,during which he stopped the construction of YuqingZhaoying Gong.He was transferred to ShanXi again in 1033,he quieted down the disasters and build the prefecture of jingzhao.In 1038,YuanHao provoked a dispute, Fan Yong became the magistrate of YanZhou.In the process of managing YanZhou, FanYong gradually formed his own tragedy to resist Xia which use all of the troops to pin down one of the enemy troop. The troop of Son was defeated in SanChuankou, which should not blame FanYong totally, the primary course is the lack of equipment and military. FanYong returned ShanXi in 1041 and became the officer of YongXing, Army.During his tenure,he minted coins and reclamation to raise money for military but all end up with failure; FanYong’s descendants were continuous for four generations and there were someone in superior official in every generation.One of his song FanZongjie became the officer of the Department of Salt of ShanXi, and his grandson FanZiqi became the second finance minister.His great grandson FanTan became the second finance minister either. FanYong’s family fortune was prosperous by imperial examination,and settle the fundament of his descendants which improved the development of his family.FanYong’s family marriage relationship mostly based on distinguished families in LuoYang and nearby regions,and has diversity to some extent. In the unique political and military environment of the middle and later periods of the emperor song zhenzong and ren-zong, Fan Yong had an important impact in the central and the northwest frontier local fiscal reforms of the northern song dynasty.
