Revolution generates refugees. This is also true for political revolution and astronomical revolution, since the former induces political refugees while the latter induces cosmic refugees.Modern astronomical revolution initiated by Copernicus is not merely a cosmic event, but also an earthshaking event that devastates the cosmic framework and basis in ancient life.As a consequence, modern astronomical revolution generates refugees in both a cosmic sense and a political sense. This is the fundamental ideological context of this thesis.Under this context, this thesis proposes to have an in-depth interpretation on the image of Robinson in the long novel Robinson Crusoe composed by Daniel Defoe,a British writer in the 18th century. This thesis insists that Defoe has perceived the subversive meaning of modern astronomical revolution in the dual dimension of cosmology and politics.Accordingly,he creates the image of Robinson and places the figure on the island after marine perils.Based on the fragment of ancient civilization and the observation and reflection of life and universe,Robinson gradually rebuilds the order on ruins. This is a story about the regeneration of modern people. How does he die and how does he regenerate is the problem raised by this thesis. This problem constitutes the backbone idea of this thesis. On the basis of existing studies, this thesis liberates "Robinson" from the identity as the"capitalist" and "Puritan" in sociological interpretation framework and attempts to recover the premise of theology-politics and topic extension paved by Defoe for this regeneration narration as much as possible. Moreover, this thesis holds that "fear" is one of the most essential research topics."Fearful" enthusiasm accompanies the whole life of Robinson. It not only dominates the theological reflections of Robinson, but also lays the fundamental basis of "the order of the desert island".This point has the most direct correspondence to the "fear" theory of Hobbes, modern founder of politics and philosophy.Defoe's "Robinson" is not only the precise rectification of Hobbes's theory but also the unspoken discoverer of cosmic context in it.
