Research On The Value Orientation Of Utilitarianism Of Contemporary Chinese College Students

With the gradual establishment and perfection of the socialist market economy with Chinese characteristics,we have imported lots of advanced science and technology from western countries.In addition,pragmatism has been introduced in China under the policy of reform and opening up.Therefore,utilitarianism,liberalism,egoism and other concepts have affected people's values imperceptibly,especially our Chinese college students.They have the tendency to develop the utilitarianism,which may exert an adverse influence,such as learning motivation and the motivation for making friends and choosing the career.As the most significant reserve forces,Chinese college students' ideological states should be paid much more attention.Due to the development particularity,we should focus on helping them to set up positive and correct values.The author uses the concept of utilitarianism as well as the value orientation of utilitarianism and introduces the evolution of utilitarianism and the characteristics of the value orientation of utilitarianism by literature research,investigation method and other methods.Sorting out the situation and the great harm of the value orientation of utilitarianism occurred on Chinese college students,especially political motivation,such as learning motivation,the motivation for choosing the career and making friends,and motivation for being excellence and leaders,is a contribution made by the author with the help of questionnaires and interview.Based on the reality,the author has analyzed the root courses of the value orientation of utilitarianism and also summarized other factors.Social environment from home and abroad,the process of higher education and family education as well as their own situation are also included.What's more,some efforts can be made to correct their value orientation.Our country and the society could create a harmonious and orderly environment.Institutions of higher education could improve the teaching theory.Family members could improve the ideological idea.College students themselves can improve their self qualities.Those ways can encourage our college students to take an active part in building socialism with Chinese characteristics with positive mind-set and solid knowledge on science and culture.We have the intention of making them become the mainstays and useful talents for the society.
