A Study On The Configuration Of Heterogeneous Characters In The Warring States

Heterogeneous characters are always present in Chinese characters system.From the Shang Dynasty to the modern times,in the daily writing,woodblock printing,type printing,and even in the computer age,the heterogeneous characters would be more or less,and they still were stored in the character library.From the point of view of Informatics,heterogeneous characters should be superfluous and ineffective information,and have no positive effect on information recording and dissemination.But,why does Chinese character system tolerate the existence of heterogeneous characters for a long time,and how should the value of heterogeneous characters be evaluated?This paper tried to discuss the problem from the aspect of configuration model.This paper counted 548 prefix of heterogeneous characters and 1386 variant font of heterogeneous characters according to the" Warring States Character encoding","Shanghai Museum's Warring States Chu bamboo book Character encoding(one to five)and " "Tsinghua University bamboo slips of Warring States Character encoding(1-3)".From the perspective of the change of the structure type and the way of producing the heterogeneous characters,this paper made a statistical analysis of the configuration of the Warring States.The heterogeneous characters in which the structural types have changed have five kinds:pictographic into phonetic,pictographic into ideographic,self-explanatory into phonetic,ideographic into phonetic and phonetic into ideographic.The heterogeneous characters in which the structural types have not changed is that making adjustments in the pictographic structure,ideographic structure and phonetic structure.Secondly,the production method of heterogeneous characters in the Warring States has been analyzed.On this basis,the paper analyzed and discussed the diversity of the configuration in the heterogeneous characters of the Warring States.Among the materials analyzed in this paper,the number of heterogeneous characters,configuration in the Warring States is eight at most,and is two at least.Besides,this paper also discussed the causes and values of the heterogeneous characters in the Warring States Period.The ideographic nature of Chinese character system,the structural analogy and the instability of Chinese character system in the Warring States period have an impact on it:the ideographic nature of Chinese character system has a great influence on the generation of heterogeneous characters;the analogy of Chinese character system is the cause of the formation of heterogeneous words;the unstable system of Chinese characters in the Warring States period caused that a lot of pictophonetic characters appear heterogeneous characters.This paper think that the heterogeneous characters reflect the richness of the Chinese characters and the expansion of the Chinese characters,which provides materials and facilities for the evolution of Chinese characters.At the same time,it also indirectly strengthens the ideographic nature of Chinese characters.
