Preliminary Development Of Scale On Work Values For College Students And Its Applied Research

The study was to develop the scale on work values for college students,and use this scale to survey a part of the college students in Shanghai to investigate the current status of their work values,and survey the differences of work values between the junior college,undergraduate and graduate students.Firstly,according to the literature review,expert consultation and interview survey,we established the theory framework of scale and got the preliminary scale.Then,there are 254 students in Shanghai were conducted a preliminary test and 268 college students to conduct a formal test,the final scale was obtained with the help of the different statistical analysis,such as item analysis,factor analysis and the reliability and validity test.Finally,using the scale,the author makes an empirical study on the work values of 1256 college students in ShanghaiThe conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)The scale on work values for college students are formed by six dimensions,which are personal development,social values,prestige-status,enterprise,welfare-hygiene factors and creativity.(2)The importance of sorting of the current college students on the scale of the work value is:personal development,enterprise,creativity,social values,welfare-hygiene factors and prestige-status.(3)Between different genders,there are no significant differences.Relatively speaking,male college students pay more attention to prestige-status,enterprise and welfare-hygiene factors.While female college students pay more attention to personal development,social values and creativity.(4)Between the junior college,undergraduate and graduate students,there are significant differences in the prestige-status,creativity,personal development and social values,on other dimensions there are no significant differences.The scale has good reliability and validity,it can be used for the investigation of the work values of the university and the education department,thus,it can carry out targeted education and guidance to provide the basis for professional psychological counseling.It also can be used for college students to assess themselves,in order to further understand their career value,so as to choose a match with the occupation.
