With the development of human society,people have profited a lot from social,scientific and technological progress,but meanwhile they are also faced with such problems as intensification of global climate change.The emission of greenhouse gas and increasingly severe climate change crisis have brought many occurred or potential crises,like glaciers melting,sea level rising and low-lying islands and mainland submerging,etc.We terran should face up to those challenges and problems,figure out feasible solutions and put into practice as soon as possible.Up till now,a great number of specialists and scholars have done a lot of studies related to climate change at home and abroad.But translations about how to solve climate change crisis are relatively much few.In view of this and out of personal interest in scientific English about climate change crisis,it is of practical significance that the translator selects Resolving the Climate Change Crisis as the translation task and research project in this paper.This thesis is a translation report of the translation practice of the first chapter of Resolving the Climate Change Crisis which is written by Philip Lawn and published on Springer.Chapter one in this book mainly introduces related background information which includes historical evolvement and development of climate change,natural and anthropogenic factors of global warming,as well as influence of greenhouse gas on climate change crisis;then it elaborates how to resolve this crisis from the perspective of ecological economics.This thesis mainly consists of four chapters.Chapter One introduces the background,theoretic guidance,translation management tools,as well as objective and significance of the translation program.The introduction of source text is illustrated in Chapter Two,including the main content,linguistic and structural features.After that,with sentence analyzing,important points and difficulties are explained,including terminologies,charts,and complicated sentences.Under the guidance of skopos theory,the translator illustrates how to adopt different translating methods to solve difficulties encountered during translation.Finally,unresolved problems,relevant considerations,experience and lessons to the translation practice are summarized in Chapter Four.
