The ocean is the cradle of life and guarantees the survival and development of human society. The human productivity has developed rapidly since the Industrial Revolution. The rapid progress of industry and agriculture has brought huge fortune to the human society, but the climate has been affected as well as the land and the ocean, especially in the Asia Pacific ocean. The book Climate Change and the Oceans---Gauging the Legal and Policy Currents in the Asia Pacific and Beyond co-edited by Robin Warner and Clive Schofield, collects ten research papers written by scientists from the Asia-Pacific region. They explore the situation of climate change and the ocean environment in this region before analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of the measures that previously proposed. The preface, chapter 1, chapter 2, chapter 3 of this book are chosen to be translated before writing the report. The translation has two aims:firstly, to provide reference for the domestic ocean environment researchers as well as for the law and policy makers; secondly, to increase public awareness of environmental protection. The readers targeted include not only the professional practitioners and researchers but also common readers who are interested in this field. The original text is typically technological and specialized. In the process of translating, domestication is chosen as the specific translation skill to better the translation under the guidance of Skopos theory. This report reviews the problem-solving process especially when translating scientific terms and long sentences. It is concluded that in order to achieve the translation purposes, the translator should take into account the meaning of the original work as well as the needs of the target readers.
