Discussion On Nationalism At The End Of Korean Empire

China was the most closely country,what related to the Korea in the history,the rise and fall of Korea is the modern China from the traditional Chinese nationalism to modern nationalism transformation of the main reference,and South Korea has been affected by the traditional order of Hua Yi,their own fate and China Tightly linked together.Therefore,the Korean view of China has a great influence on the evolution of modern Korean thought.During the Korean Empire,the political turmoil in East Asia,the constant conflict between the East and the West,and the complex historical background,produced rich and diverse nationalism,and the connotation of nationalism was manifested through the Korean view of China.The Japanese imperialist aggression has broken the peace situation in East Asia.South Korea has vigorously pursued the policy of peace in East Asia in order to preserve the country and believes that China,as a member of "peace in East Asia,"should join hands with South Korea to resist Japanese aggression,As the main content of the nationalism.When the Western civilization came into the East,the ideological conflict between the East and the West intensified,South Korea began to try to get rid of the past "small Chinese" thought that China is civilized liberalization of the laggards,in the exclusion of Chinese culture to carry forward their own traditional culture is absolutely excellent,show Nationalism based on the connotation of nationalism.However,this exclusion cannot completely determine the Chinese view is a negative attitude.At the end of the Korean Empire,the situation in the country was precarious and internal and external.The intellectuals who wanted to enter the country to see their country as a "reference" of their own country,trying to change their own destiny by taking its essence,embodied the patriotism as the core of nationalism.The newspaper Korean Daily Declaration,founded in the last phase of the Korean Empire in 1904,as a thought media along with the demise of Korean Empire,reflected the particular national situation during the special historical period.It vigorously pursued nationalism to the point view of "patriotic" and boldly illustrated its own views,the content and ideas of which were generally accepted and acquiesced by the Korean society.It can be said that the Korean Daily Declaration probed the evolution of Korean modern nationalism.In addition,the ownership of Korean Daily Declaration belonged to the British journalist Ernest Thomas Bethel,so the Japanese news inspection was avoided,the relatively free speech environment was created and its circulation at the time in Korean was in the first place.Therefore,it could be regarded as one of the most authoritative and convincing media which objectively reflected the social ideological trends and the recognition of advanced intellectuals in the last phase of Korean Empire.Based on this view,through the study of the manifested Chinese-related speech,this paper focused on the Korean Daily Declaration,analyzed Korean society’s views on China and comprehensively analysis nationalism of Korea in the last phase of Korean Empire.
