A Practice Report On Sentence Transformation And Reorganization In Chinese-English Consecutive Interpreting Based On Syntactic Linearity Principle

In recent years,along with the constant rising of the internationalization tide,the global economic and trade exchanges are becoming increasingly frequent and thecontact among countries in the world is getting closer and closer.Many foreign filmsare swarming into Chinese market,and the Chinese films are moving towards the world imperceptibly.However,the communication between different cultures is bound to have certain language barriers.Therefore,translation plays a more and more important role in international cultural exchanges.This thesis takes the documentary A Bite of Shunde as interpreting material.Then it adopts the method of consecutive interpreting to the Chinese-English interpreting practice simulation.This documentary introduces the cooking culture of Shunde and Shunde people's tireless pursuit of food with the subject of food.Food is the unique genetic code of Shunde,which is also the distinctive mark different from other parts of the world.Shunde cuisine not only has a profound impact on Chinese dietary culture,but also has a positive effect on the world food culture.From the perspective of interpretation,the documentary involves local customs,choice of food ingredients and various delicacy making processes,etc.There are a large number of uncommon words,proper nouns and long sentences in it,which poses great difficulties to the interpretation work.This thesis utilizes the method of sentence component transformation to change the verbs,nouns,attributives and adverbials in Chinese from the perspective of sentence transformation and reorganization based on the guidance of syntactic linearity principle.It also utilizes the sentence restructuring method to deal with the long and difficult sentences in appendix,including segmentation method,prediction method and variation method.Through this interpreting practice,I summarize the possible problems as well as the methods and strategies of processing problems in the interpreting process.I am also deeply aware of the significance and value of this interpreting practice.Meanwhile,my interpreting level has been greatly improved.
