The Invisible History of the Human Race,in an unassuming style, skillfully expands on the definition of genetics,so it aims to help translators to gain elementary knowledge of genetics. This paper also purports to show how to make a target text more readable and enjoyable to target readers and thus generate the same response and experiences in target readers as in readers of the source text.Based on Christiane Nord's model, this paper analyzes the source text.Christiane Nord's model can be divided into three steps which are TT skopos analysis, source text analysis as well as production of target text. This paper lays emphasis on the analysis of source text's external factors which are motive, recipient and text function. After exploring the external factors, this paper continues with the internal ones, which relate to text itself. This paper deals with the changes in the source text under the guidance of Christiane Nord's model. The changes are being analyzed at lexical, syntactical and text level. The translator changes the lexical meaning in accordance with external and internal factors of the situation in which the text is used. The west and China have different language structures due to the different thinking models. Therefore, the translator also changes the sentence structures to make target text more readable to Chinese readers.Moving on other changes in text, this paper has come to the conclusion that some references are changed. In this way,the text can attain the cohesion. This paper arrives at the conclusion that the model can help the translator to remove the cultural, ideological and linguistic barriers in translation of the scientific text.
