In the history of western ethics,Kantian ethics is important,which has been fiercely criticized since its beginning.Among the criticisms,Schopenhauer's criticism of Kantian ethics is the most comprehensive and profound.Schopenhauer has criticized Kantian ethics under the impetus of external and internal motivation,whose purpose was to overthrow the foundation of Kantian ethics and lay a new foundation for ethics.Schopenhauer mainly criticized Kant's method,foundation,principle,inferential form,the concept of obligation of ethics,and so on:Schopenhauer criticized Kant's transcendental method,the method of using the false argument;criticized Kant's confusion of the principle and foundation of ethics,criticized Kantian ethics is a disguised theological ethics,is not a valid assumption;criticized Kantian ethics principle is a hypothetical imperative,is an assumption that cannot be established;criticized Kant's inferential form of the principle of ethics — formula of humanity is egoism;criticized Kant's concept of duty from theological ethics;On the one hand,Schopenhauer's critique of Kantian ethics establish a new foundation for ethics,voluntarism ethics and at the same time reveals the problems of Kantian ethics.On the other hand,it also highlights Schopenhauer's many misreadings of Kantian ethics.Through the study of Schopenhauer's critique of Kant's ethics,it is helpful for us to know the ethics of Kant and Schopenhauer as well as to understand the differences and relations between the two kinds of heterogeneous ethics.
