A Report On The Interpreting Practice Of 2016 Ministerial Seminar On Hybrid-rice For Developing Countries

With the development of globalization,the role of interpreting is becoming more and more important,and gradually develops into a career.To be a good interpreter,you must have basic language comprehension ability,professional and background knowledge,otherwise,you cannot understand the speaker’s words.Even if you can understand the words one by one,you cannot form a coherent meaning.Therefore,the cultivation of understanding is essential for a qualified interpreter.Based on the theory of deverbalization derived from cognitive linguistics,this paper focuses on the efficient comprehension strategies under the background of 2016 Ministerial Seminar on Hybrid-rice for Developing Countries.This paper also makes a conclusion about the work of interpreting practice.It mainly consists of four parts:The first part briefly introduces the background and the nature of this interpreting practice,different forms of interpreting tasks and the main contents of author’s participation in this foreign aid training.In the second part,taking trainees itinerary in China as main line,the author summarizes the three stages of the interpreting process,namely pre-interpreting preparation stage,interpreting stage and post-interpreting summary stage.The third part is the core chapter of this paper.The author discusses the possible comprehension obstacles in the process of interpreting,and puts forward three methods to improve comprehension efficiency concerning adequate background knowledge,visualized and associative memory,and proactive prediction.The fourth part is some summaries and reflections gained from this interpreting practice and the author also puts forward some feasible advices for future interpreting works.
