The Pleasure Study Of Spectacle Films From A Multidimensional Perspective

Compared with traditional narrative film,the spectacle film brings the audience a total immersion experience,since that it was criticized deeply.The study of pleasant sensation was limited,so the spectacle film has been labelled as superficial and low-level.This dissertation,from the aspect of “immersion experience of the spectacle films”,combined with the audience's psychological changes and attempt to start with the whole process of viewing and the transitions between processes,explains the pleasure's forms and the mental mechanism.This dissertation divided into five parts:Introduction: First of all,based on the definition of Spectacle Films in previous studies to propose a definition in this research.Then,summarized the contemporary research in home and abroad.Finally,proceed from exploring the relationship between spectacle and pleasure,and introduce the methodology in this study and the value of this research.Chapter one: the thesis affirmed the total immersion experience is peculiar to spectacle films and points out it has many layers of meaning.One side,the thesis adopts the multi-disciplinary method to study,combined with the specific example analysis the pleasure of expectancy,and attempts to analysis its background and reasons in the theory of the "Uses and Gratifications" and "The agenda setting”;On the other side,the thesis proceed from the physiological needs of human beings and the environment of theater,showed the total immersion experience is influenced by physiological,environmental and technical factors.Chapter two: discussing the “Peak experience in watching films.” Firstly,it comes from the cognitive pleasure in the pursuit of strange stories;Secondly,it comes from the psychological pleasure of roles participation,it includes the conversion of attention caused by audio-visual stimulation,Self-integration and the visualization of desire.Lastly,it also exists in collective,it includes the anxiety release of the staff and the amplified support pleasure.Chapter three: discussing the subsequent pleasure of spectacle film.Firstly,the dissertation analyzes the relationship between the spectacle and sublime;Secondly,thesis reckons the transformation mechanism of Katharsis is composed of Aesthetic distance,Self-defense Mechanism and the Third-Person Effect;Lastly,the pleasant sensation of imagination and pleasant sensation is peculiar to spectacle films,it inspired by secondary imagination that caused by spectacle image and the pleasure of possession that from Post-film production.Conclusion: the thesis reckons the fundamental cause of the limitations of the study is the prejudice of pleasure and the lack of understanding of pleasure.Therefore,it is necessary to make the research of the spectacle films in a multidimensional and dynamics way.
