A Study On The Structure Of City Wall About Zhengzhou Shang City

As the main capital in the early period of Shang Dynasty,the architectural techniques of Zhengzhou Shang City play an important part of the architecture history of ancient capitals in China.Scholars are a lack of systematic study on structure of the city wall of Zhengzhou Shang City for years in academia.Based on former researches and unearthed findings of archaeology,this thesis makes the study deeply and systematically about the related problem of the up-down structure and within-without structure and structural features of the city wall of Zhengzhou Shang City,combined with newly discovered archaeological materials,stratigraphy,typology approaches and cultural factor analysis method in recent years.This thesis have five parts.The first part is the introduction which expounds and defines the city wall and the structure of the city wall,and introduces the archaeological discovery about the inner city wall,the outer city wall and the city wall of the Palace area in Zhengzhou Shang city,and reviews and analyzes the research history,the current research status and the existing problems in this filed,and points out the researching purpose,significance and approaches of the research.The second and third parts analyze the up-down structure and the within-without structure of the rammed earth city wall in Zhengzhou Shang city respectively,including foundation groove remains and the nursing slope of city wall remains,and speculates the within-without structure between the outer city wall and the city wall of the Palace area.The forth part discusses features of the city wall in Zhengzhou Shang city,which includes the consistency and the diversity of the inner city wall,the commonality and the difference between the inner city wall and the outer city wall,and the uniqueness of the city wall of the Palace area.The fifth part is the conclusion which sums up the research results.This thesis believe that the up-down structure and within-without structure are different among the inner city wall,the outer city wall and the city wall of the Palace area in Zhengzhou Shang city.The foundation grooves are discovered in some rammed earth of the city wall about the inner city wall,but some are not discovered.However,the foundation groove remains are discovered between the outer city wall and the city wall of the Palace area.So some people are entirely sure and totally negate that there are foundation grooves remains in Zhengzhou Shang city,which is not in accord with facts.the city walls have different within-without structure.The within-without structure of inner city wall are different,divided into two-sides nursing slope,one-side nursing slope and zero-side nursing slope.For the outer city wall and the city wall of the Palace area,this thesis considers that the within-without structure belong to the two-sides nursing slope and one-side nursing slope.Structural features of the city wall in Zhengzhou Shang city have three features,including the consistency and the diversity of the inner city wall,the commonality and the difference between the inner city wall and the outer city wall,and the uniqueness of the city wall of the Palace area.
