A Report On The Translation Of Social Thinking And Interpersonal Behavior(Chapter 8&9)

The translation material of this paper is selected from Chapter Eight and Chapter Nine of Social Thinking and Interpersonal Behavior,which has not yet been translated into Chinese up to now.The book aims to provide an up-to-date integration of the most recent developments in social psychological research on the embodied cognitive theory,offering an overview of recent advances in research on the relationship between social cognition and interpersonal behavior.Chapter Eight mainly focuses on the importance and implications of affects and emotions on social thinking and interpersonal behavior.Chapter Nine mainly describes facial politics,such as judging one’s political view from looks.The translation report mainly consists of four parts.The first part is a brief introduction to the source of the material to be translated and stylistic features of the material.The material is an argumentative essay with a carefully worded writing,complicated sentence structures as well as clear logic.The second part is a comprehensive description of translation procedures,including the pre-translation preparation,the perceived difficulties to be solved in the first draft,proofreading to polish and finalizing the whole report.Through the analysis of the overall structure,the translator has figured out the logic layer of the material.After proofreading and modifying carefully several times,the translator revised the translation in terms of accuracy and readability to ensure expressions of the translation in accordance with the Chinese expressions.The third part is the detailed analysis of the case study,where some specific examples are discussed in relation to translation strategies of lexical conversion,voice conversion,etc.The last part summarizes the translator’s retrospection with regard to the translation process.The appendix table A is psychological terms of the report.
