This is a report based on the translation of Think Simple: How Smart Leaders Defeat Complexity(Chapter 5).The book is written by Ken·Segall,a bestselling author in the United States.This book elaborates on how established corporations achieved remarkable performance through simplification.The importance of this report lies in supplying enterprises at all levels with the precious management experience and reference basis through the introduction of experience in terms of simplification conducted by well-known companies.This report is achieved under the guidance of Katharina Reiss' s text typology and communicative translation put forward by Peter Newmark.This report includes five parts: Chapter One gives a brief introduction to the background,significance,and structure of the project;Chapter Two introduces the source text,including its publishing facts,main content,and its linguistic characteristics,and divides the source text into informative text which aims at delivering the information conveyed;Chapter Three introduces the communicative translation put forward by Peter Newmark and its application in the project;Chapter Four gives elaboration on the difficulties and their corresponding solutions.With regard to the difficulties encountered in translating,annotation,free translation and cutting are adopted accordingly;Chapter Five provides a summary of the experience accumulated in the project and the problems remain to be solved.
