This report is completed based on the translation of Global Warming and Climate Change: Transparency and Accountability(Chapter 2 and Chapter 3).This book mainly introduces major natural and human-caused disasters in various countries and regions and their serious impacts on human beings. The translation aims to make the citizens realize the harm of global warming, thus enhancing the awareness of crisis and environmental protection, and actively taking preventive measures to deal with future climate change and disasters arising from it.The source text belongs to the informative type. There are a large number of attributive clauses in it.The subject to be discussed in this report is how to use appropriate translation methods to accurately translate attributive clauses in order to faithfully and smoothly express the original content in the translation and realize the communicative function of the original text.Under the guidance of communicative translation, three translation methods are adopted to translate the attributive clauses in the source text. The first strategy is combination, which is to translate attributive clauses into prepositive attributive with the Chinese character “?” in front of head words or into predicate of simple sentences. The second strategy is division, which is to translate attributive clauses into coordinate clauses or independent clauses. The third one is conversion, which is to convert attributive clauses into adverbial clauses of condition, concession, cause and so on according to logical relations that main clauses have with clauses. The report consists of five chapters. The first chapter gives a brief introduction to the source text and describes the significance and structure of this translation report. The second chapter introduces procedures of translation practice.Newmark's communicative translation theory is summarized and its feasibility in informative type text is analyzed in the third chapter.Strategies for English-Chinese translation of attributive clauses are offered and analyzed in the fourth chapter. And the last chapter is conclusion.
