In the contemporary normative ethics, there are two most important theoretical perspectives that are the consequentialism and deontology. Both of them are trying to provide a exclusive criterion for the rightfulness of people's moral behavior. But in real life,no matter what kind of criteria we choose always make our behavior drop into the moral dilemma.Faced with this situation, different ethicists put forward their different solutions, one of the most valuable way is Parfit's triple theory.Parfit devoted himself to clarifying and rectifying the consequentialism, deontology, contractarianism and other normative theory to develop his systematic and coherent triple theory which integrates consequentialism,Kant's deontology and Scanlan's contractarianism.Parfit's triple theory provides a general high-level judgment standard for the rightfulness of our moral behavior through demonstrating the existence of convergence among conflicting and competitive moral theories.Triple theory has many “plausible implications”.We can be guided by the daily moral intuition via adopting the triple theory. This paper will give a detail observation and study of Parfit's triple theory which tries to eliminate the differences between the various normative theories to reach a consensus and establish the highest ethical principle. The goal of this paper is to have a systematic comprehension of the triple theory and provide a new theoretical perspective for the study on contemporary normative ethics.
