This is an English-Chinese interpreting report on a simulated interpreting task.Professor Mark Schofield from English Edge Hill University delivered an academic lecture in Chongqing Normal University;his lecture “Theory,Practice and Professionalism?” educates the students a lot.And the author selected his lecture video as practical material for the simulated interpreting.The interpreter transcripts the whole task exactly with constant analysis.The processes of this simulated interpreting task are as follows: material selecting,preparation,recording and transcription.The author reports every step of her relatively complete work in this paper.And the analyzed key and difficult points in this task include: pet phrases of speaker,non-verbal information,source language listening comprehension,time control,logical structure of source language,speaker's real intention,conveying accessible information.The interpreter mainly uses the interpreting skills such as omission,amplification,restructuring and paraphrase to achieve discourse equivalence.There are two parts in chapter three;one is the challenges encountered during interpreting,the other is four interpreting strategies description.And the strategies are: omission,amplification,language structure reorganization and paraphrase.And on the basis of the first three descriptions and analysis,the findings are as follows: first,the exact and accessible message is necessary.Second,professional capacities manifest in all aspect of interpreter's performance.Third,interpreter should pay attention to the speaker's intended message.
