The thesis is an English-Chinese translation practice report.The title of this book is Invisible Nature: Healing the Destructive Divide between People and the Environmentwritten by American writer Kenneth Worthy.The translator chooses the first chapter and the second chapter of the original book to translate.The translator is interested in this kind of book about ecological pollution and environmental protection.As we all know,environmental problem is the urgent issue to be solved and humans should change their mindset in their daily life.The original material is closed to human's life,therefore the translator chooses this book as the original text.Before translating this book,it is necessary for the translator to fully understand the writing style and text characteristics of this book.The author of the book Kenneth Worthy is a writer who bends himself to environmental studies thus his writing style is formal,serious and well-founded.Reading the whole article to find out the main idea and general meaning of the text is the key step before translation.During the process of translating,the translator found relevant literature of translation strategies and translation theories to deal with those difficulties in translation.In addition,with the help of a dictionary,the author tried to figure out the different meanings of a single word in order to make language smooth and easy.Through the comparative study of parallel texts of some sentences,the better translation version can be achieved meanwhile,the author also discussed with the adviser whether some translated text is reasonable and consistent with translation principles.After finishing this translation project,the author re-read this paper in order to find out grammar,spelling mistakes or some translation pretermission.Correction and review of the translation text is a key step in translation report.Finally,the report covers a total amount of 15000 selected from the first and the second chapter of the original book.The translator learned a lot from this translation project.There are so many difficulties in the translation activity including: the translation of new words,many phrases as well as many long and difficult sentences.It is worth mentioning that the translation of the name of the source book is a difficult point for the translator while the translation strategies and methods applied in the process of translation including:domesticating,foreignizing,free translation and literal translation and etc.With the help of some translation tools,this project can be done.To some extent,this thesis can help to strengthen people's consciousness of environmental protection and broaden the knowledge about our environmental pollution.People should know deep that human activity matters a lot to our environment.In terms of environmental protection,little action is meaningful to environmental protection.It is significant for people to protect our nature through little things since a healthy ecological environment means a lot to the development of our human society.
