Study Of The Folklore About Alxa Toponymy

Legend is a literature formation spread by oral description which is based on objects related to specific historical events,characters and local scenery,is constructed by literature expression techniques and history expression ways,and is of aesthetic consciousness.Folk legends has a realistic side.Although some artful contents are added to them during the spread,they are still important foundation of researching the evolution of human civilization because of its authenticity of history inheritance.Legends of place name describe the reasons,names,characteristics and meanings of geographical natural objects and artificial constructions,which conclude many historical culture footprints.Therefore,they become the important resources for researchers to study historical culture.This thesis takes Alxa--a place name of Mongolia as a research object,combines related documents and research achievements,and takes nature property and historical causes as cut points,to analyze generally the causes,characteristics and meaning of legends of place names in Alxa from the perspectives of history,culture and society,which aims at proposing author's shallow standpoints to researches for the legends of place name in this area.The thesis are divided into three parts:Chapter 1 describes the traditions of how to name places in long terms in Mongolia,analyzes the mutual relationships between place names and legends,and discusses the relationships between place names and legends through the characteristics of place name legends in Alxa.Chapter 2 presents the naturality of place name legends in Alxa through analyzing the legends of places of interest,animals and plants in Alxa.Chapter 3 presents the sociality and historicity of place name legends in Alxa through analyzing the legends of Buddhism,Xixia,Genghis Khan and construction of Alxa Banner.
