Revolutionary film generally refers to the films which were created during the period of 1942-1966,starting from Mao Zedong publishing the Speech at the Yan'an Symposium on Literature to the "Seventeen Years" period(1949-1966).Those films usually aimed at presenting the theme of war and conveying the spirit of revolution.Although the revolutionary film is the product of political propaganda,it still suffered ruthless criticism and almost disappeared in the "Cultural Revolution".As the "Cultural Revolution" which lasted for ten years officially ended,Chinese society finally got rid of the state of stagnation and stepped forward. The continuous advancement of the Reform and Opening-up policy made the Chinese people truly feel the material fulfillment brought by the economic development.During this period, the long-lost revolutionary film re-entered the film market and had been injected with new era connotation, which indicates the inspiring effect of revolutionary film to some extent.Since the 1990s.many popular revolutionary films were remade or adapted into TV series. But as the product of special historical period, the revolutionary film still contains strong political propaganda purpose,so we cannot ignore its limitations in the process of contemporary communication. On the one hand, the revolutionary history is far away from the life of modern people and some values conveyed by them are outdated. On the other hand, with the continuous development of the film industry, the pattern of diversified film creation has been formed.People have more options and the competitiveness of revolutionary film market is insufficient. This paper takes the revolutionary films created by Cui Wei as an example.analyzes the situation of its contemporary communication, and explains why the revolutionary film lacks effective comnmunication. At the same time, the paper points out the conmunication strategy of revolutionary film in the new era.and puts forward some feasible proposals for the creation of revolutionary films and other relevant film and television works. In the first chapter, the author briefly analyzes the reasons for choosing Cui Wei as the representative of the revolutionary film and the success or failure of his film creation. The second chapter mainly analyzes the propagation effect of each stage of revolutionary film, and points out the reasons why the revolutionary film is poor in contemporary communication. The third chapter mainly introduces the current situation of the revolutionary film in the contemporary communication, from media, audience, and communication strategy this three aspects. The fourth chapter is the reflection of the modern transmission of revolutionary film, and provides reference for the adaptation and creation of contemporary revolutionary film. Finally, this paper concludes that in today's era of plural values and unprecedented prosperity of media culture,we must recognize the spread of revolutionary film, realize its limitations in contemporary communication, and evaluate this particular film type objectively.
