A Study Of Aijaz Ahmad's Post-colonial Literary Theory

Aijaz Ahmad,one of most important figures in the scope of post-colonial study,created the mode of Marxian historical materialism in the post-colonial study.As a third-world scholar,meanwhile,Ahmad gives more attention to third-world own problem than where is the third-world relative to the western.His post-colonial literary theory which is part of his post-colonial theory has an important influence on post-colonial theory.Moreover,his conception about Indian literature of non-western style has signal values to construct the literary study with Chinese characteristics.In short,Domestic research should give enough attention to Ahmad's post-colonial literary theory.But the opposite happened as the related research is rarely.So,it is necessary to systematically discuss the post-colonial literary theory of Ahmad.This article researches from six aspects of the post-colonial theory of Ahmad:The first part is introduction,including the significance of the research and the current states.This is also the breakthrough point in this paper.The current states is divided into three part according their contents and put on their existing problems.The second part is the generation of the context of the Ahmad's post-colonial literary theory,combing the growing experiences when he found the encounter with theory and history,the ideological resources included Traditional Marxism,Western Marxism,postcolonialism and feminism and the specific theories(included Fredric Jameson's Third-World Literature in the Era of Multinational Capitalism,Raymond Henry Williams' s evaluation of George Orwell in Culture and Society and Edward Wadie Said's Traveling Theory)which triggered his discussion about the post-colonial literary theory.The third and fourth part is the basic point of the Ahmad's post-colonial literary theory.It explains the birth of the lie who was called Third World Literature from four respects.The fourth to six part is the main contents of the Ahmad's post-colonial literary theory and the main and core body of this paper.The fourth part expounds Ahmad nails the lie of the Third World Literature and reviewed the recolonization of the Orient by the Occident.The fifth part is the Ahmad's discussion about the immigrantintellectuals who is often seen as a natural identity.The sixth part is about the Ahmad's conceive of the non-western-style Indian literature.The seven part is conclusion which is the re-counter thinking of post-colonial literary theory based on the meaning and defect of Ahmad's post-colonial literary theory.
