Research On The Influence Of Working Memory Contents On Metacognition

Studies have claimed that working memory content can have a certain impact on visual perception,resulting in perceiving the items in visual selection matching with work memory content more easily than mismatched ones.Similarly,cognitive neuroscience studies have shown that working memory shares the overlapping underlying neural mechanisms(such as prefrontal lobe)with metacognition.In this study,we design working memory,perceptual sensibility and metacognitive sensibility into the single task paradigm to explore the mechanism of interaction within the three.The results indicate that the content of working memory may exert influence on the metacognitive sensibility without affecting the perceptual sensibility.To be more accurate,people behave with lower metacognitive sensibility when the items to be reacted to in the visual search task are congruent with the content of the working memory than those incongruent.Moreover,this effect is not due to the bottom-up priming of the visual stimulus.
